John MacTavish is one of the popular character from the popular video game series Call of Duty. He is a British special forces operative who appears in several games, including the iconic Modern Warfare trilogy. While a fictional character, Sgt. MacTavish has been influential in shaping the cultural landscape of video games and is widely recognized as one of the most beloved characters in the franchise. He is also a good friend of Capt. Price.
Early Life
Just like GHOST, Sargent MacTavish has no actual record of his DOB. But to some resources, Sargent Mactavish was born scottland on or befour 1996. Football was his favourite game and foten play as a goalkeeper. When he was a teen, he tried several time to join the British SAS team showing his fake age certificate, but got caught every time. He was a born soldier.
Military Career
Sgt. MacTavish joined the 23rd regiment of SAS through his causin on his 16 and after 2 years of his servish, he then joined the 22nd regiment of an elit squadron under the captancy of Capt. John Price. Capt.Price trained him so well that he became a good and sharp sniper of his regiment.
He has a remarkable speed and was good in cleaning the enemies room to room. For his room clearance technique and speed, Capt. Price named him SOAP, the room cleaner.
After an operation in Urzikstan in which his patrol was assaulted by Al-Qatala, Soap was awarded the Gallantry Medal, the Victoria Cross, and the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross.
Sargent MacTavish and Task Force 141
After the death of Russian General Roman D. Barkov and under the oversight of US General Shepherd, Capt Price created a new special force with help of CIA station chief Kate Laswell. He named the team as Task Force 141 including Sargent MacTavish, GHOST and Gaz. Their first mission was to terminate Victor zakhaev, Imran zakhaev’s son who was the main reason for the fall of Armistice in Verdansk. According to intel, he was hiding in Kastovian city. When he was tracked down, Capt. Price neutralized him before he could launch the ICBM towards USA. Sargent MacTavish was not directly involved in this, but he was still in the sector and contacted Price not long after as “things were heating up” outside the city.
After death of his son, Imran Zakhaev was mad. He demanded the US Govt. to withdraw the British and US Force or he will nuke the east cost of America. Sgt MacTavish, Capt. Price, Gaz and several other SAS members parachuted into Altay mountains, near the nuclear launch site. There they got surrounded by Zakhaev’s men and Gaz got killed. In the mean time Backup arrived and distracted Zakhaev from soap and Capt. Price and was KIA by Sgt MacTavish using Capt.Price’s M1911 pistol.
There next mission was to recover the stolen American Ballistic Missiles from Hassan. Sargent MacTavish and Lieutenant Ghost alongside with MARSOC members were recruited to exicute the mission at Al Mazrah. During the mission under the command of GHOST, they were attacked by AQ snipers. Sgt MacTavish eliminated then all using his EBR-14. Hassan escaped from there and during the chase Sgt MacTavish killed two AQ Commander and to take revenge Hassan wounded him and tried to throw him out of the window. But with Ghost’s help Hassan was killed in action.
Sgt. MacTavish as a Captain
During operation Kingfish, they were surrounded by dozens of ultra nationalist soldiers and escaped via V-22 Osprey. Capt. Price was captured while helping the troop members to escape. He was considered to be dead as there was no sign of Capt. Price and after that Sgt. MacTavish was promoted to Captain rank. His next mission was to recovering a downed ACS module behind enemy line. Capt. MacTavish and Soap were recruited to exicute this mission at Tian Shan mountain range of Ak-Su of Kazakhstan. During their mission they were about to be captured by Major Pertov, but using a backup plan they escaped from there recovering the ACS Module.
Death of Sgt MacTavish
In COD MW3 Capt. Price, Sgt MacTavish, Yuri and other Task Force 141 members were on mission to kill Vladimir Makarov. After capturing some of Makarov’s men and during an interrogation, Makarov,s men exploded them selve giving a deep wound to Soap. Capt. Price managed to take him to nearst base but couldn’t save him. Soap’s last words were “Makarov knows Yuri”. That mean Yuri had worked with Makarov in the past.
Conclusion
Sgt. MacTavish was on of the finest soldier and a toughly trained soldier. He was also a very good friend to Capt Price, who saved his life many times. Except being a good soldier, he was a perfect sniper, who was trained by Capt. Price. His death in COD was among the saddest moment among the all. He will always be remembered by his fellow soldiers, especially by Capt. Price and all his fans.
