Alejandro Vargas is my new favorite character in the COD series. He grew up at Las Almas alongside Rodolfo Parra. They both used to skip their high school classes to roam the mountainous trails on the outskirts of the city, the place where future Cartel hideouts took place. Col. Vargas joined the Mexican army and Los Vaqueros and conducted many operations.
Early life of Col. Vargas
Alejandro was born in Las Almas, Mexico. His childhood friend, Rudolfo Pereira, known as Rudy, They like to spend their time outside the classroom in the mountain foothills. They usually skipped most of the classes in high school to enjoy their childhood days. Rudy and Alejandro joined the Mexican Army on their 18th birthdays, along with Valeria Garza. Alehandro joined Las Vaqueros, an elite unit of the Mexican Special Forces. He was a very wild soldier in his unit. He got promoted to the post of colonel and Rudy got promoted to sergeant major.
Capturing Hassan Zyani
An Iranian terrorist Major Hassan Zyani was being transported by the Las Almas Cartel, over the US Mexican border on an unexpected route. The CIA station chief Kate Laswell informed Col. Vargas to trace and capture Hassan. Alejandro and Rudy searched for hassan on US Mexico border river. They caught hassan escaping. Hassan wounded Rudy seriously and escaped from there.
Laswell sent John (Soap) MacTavish and Simon (Ghost) Riley, who are the members of Special Task Force 141 for help Col. Vargas and the Las Vaqueros unit. The Shadow company, Commanded by Philip Graves, joined this mission with Task force 141 and Las Vaqueros. In Mexico, they captured hassan to retrieve some data about the Ballistic missiles. For interrogation they took Hassan to an unknown place putting Laswell and General Shepherd into live.
As the situation was getting hard, General Shepherd ordered Graves to do everything to retrieve the missile’s location. Laswell stopped them from doing. She said, killing Hassan would be an act of war and taking him into custody is illegial. Finding no other choices, General Shepherd ordered to release him after getting small data from his cell phone..
CIA station chief Kate Laswell found connection between Las Almas Cartail and Hassan. Col. Vargas and everyone were informed and planed to capture El-Sin-Nombrey, the Cartel boss. After capturing El-Sin-Nombrey Col. Vargas found that the Cartel boss was Valeria Garza who was an ex-military. In exchange of freedom, Valeria agreed to tell the location of missiles and Hassan. Col. Vargas along side with Soap, Ghost, Graves and Shadow company recovered one missile and destroyed one.
Graves betraying Col. Vargas
After retrieving one missile and destroying the second one at the oil rig with Shadow Company, Graves turned on Col. Vargas and 141 after returning to base. Graves turned the base of Col. Vargas into his sizable covert facility with the orders of General Shepherd. He captured Col. Vargas and imprisoned him with other Los Vaqueros troops. Ghost, Soap, and Rudy escaped to Alejandro’s secret safe house. There, they gathered some resources and rescued Alejandro and his men. Capt. Price joined them, and they chased Graves and killed him using C4 and blowing up the armored vehicle he was trying to escape with.
Killing Hassan Zyani
After recovering the missile and killing Commander Graves, they came back to Valeriya and got the location of Hassan and the third missile at Chikago. Col. Vargas and his friend Rudy took Valeriya to prison and Task Force 141 went to finish their mission to recover missiles and terminate Hassan and they successfully completed their task.
Conclusion
Col. Vargas has become the new lovable character. He is the most iconic soldier of the Las Vaqueros special task force with his cowboy attitude. He is a dedicated soldier and always ready to scarify him self for his home land. We will see him again as Valeria is supposed to escapes again to continue his empire in Las Almas.
